job Tauranga
Hi all,
So my kiwi picking job is finish. We have worked 10 hours a day during 11 days non stop...i m exhausted. I have my week end off and that s really good. I m a little sad that the job is finish because i liked very much the working atmosphere...it s the life. Now i have to find another job in tauranga (because i want to stay in the shared house with the germans and chile s guys). Maybe in a kiwi packhouse...i really don t know.
This afternoon: BBQ with shark, kangaroos and lamb!
I have join a football team. Training every Thursday evening; But it s not a boring training, it s just a friendly match so it s really perfect. The kiwi footballers are not so bad, especially physically, they are able to run run and run, it s crazy.
Give me some news from Europe please.

Mount Mauganui + Tauranga
hi all,
Like my grandfather said, i must prove my english progresses so this part of the diary will be in English!
I left Auckland 10 days ago. The journey was a discovery of my new car...awesome. It's so good to have his own car, i felt so free! the car work perfectly and the landscapes during the travel were really unmazing. The only problem was that i didn't have some music in the car...but it s not really important.
I have been to an hostel in mount mauganui. I knew that this bacpacker could provide me some kiwi picking's job. The big advantage of this hostel was his location. Mount Mauganui is a famous holiday place with a beautiful surf beach. So the first two days, i didn t work and i just enjoyed my stay. I bouth a bodyboard and surfed in the goods waves of the mount mauganui s beach. Of course the waves were not as big as in Australia but really not too bad.
I have begun the work the third day of my stay in this hostel. I have been really really lucky with the work because it s in a very friendly little farm. We are 15 for the kiwi picking: 5 travellers like me (2 guys from Chili and a couple of Czech) and 10 kiwi's people (people from New Zealand are called « Kiwis » because of the famous New Zealand bird). This 10 people are actually the members of the farmer s family. It s a big family and they live all in the same area close to the farm of the granth parents. When the kiwi s season is coming, all the members of this family help for the kiwi picking.
The big advantage of this work is that the working atmosphere is unmazing. All the people speak, joke and laugh non stop during the work. They are really friendly and fun so i really enjoy working with them.
The other advantage is that it s hourly and well paid: 15$/h...really not so bad for a fruit picking s job.
Me and the 2 Czech guys have been to the house of one of the famers for diner one evening. It was really good, i hadn t eat so good since i left my mother and her delicious meals. He live in a beautiful house with a unmazing view. I put some pictures of the view from his garden at the end of this mail. The problem is that it was really early in the morning and the brightness is too weak.
This farmer like soccer and he proposed to watch together the champion s league final thurday morning before working. Here it's between 6 and 8 am...It will be crazy to watch soccer and drinking coffe in place of beers.
The problem was the bacpacker where i slept: too small, expensive (140$/week), too much german people and especially, not enougth girls! So i decided to leave after a week because the two chili s guys who works with me propose me an accomodation in their house. It's a shared house with 8 beds. They are 3 chilian, 3 germans and one from Argentina. The atmosphere is awesome and i really enjoy my stay! There is free internet and it s cheap (90$/week) so i think i have finded a place where i will stay fot a long time. Some people asked that i give an adress to send me letters an other thinks when i stay in a same place a few weeks . So i give you the adress:

Départ d'Auckland pour Mount Manganui
hello tout le monde,
Quelques nouvelles vite fait parce que j'ai pas trop le temps là.
J'ai donc fait à peu près tout ce qu'il était possible de faire pour trouver un job « sérieux » à Auckland. Je dois avoir postulé pour une quarantaine de postes et maintenant j'attends les réponses mais malheureusement ça ne vient pas...faut dire que j'ai quelques gros handicaps:
- pas d'expérience professionnelle (et TOUTES les annonces en demande)
- j'ai un working holiday visa ce qui fait que les entreprises ont tendance à croire que je cherche un job à court terme et ça ne les intéresse pas.
- je ne suis pas encore fluent in english
D'où je suis assez pessimiste...d'autant qu'il y a une anglaise à mon auberge qui est microbiologiste et qui cherche comme moi un job dans un labo ou en industrie. Elle est là depuis mars et n'a toujours rien trouvé...
En fait le boulot qui m'emballerait le plus c'est bosser pour Fonterra, c est l'entreprise qui s'occupe de tout le traitement du lait (pasteurisation, écrémage, empaquetage,...) en NZ. Ils ont une programme spécial (payé) pour nouveaux diplômés qui commence fin juin. Le principe est qu'ils ne prennent que des jeunes. Pour ceux qui sont pris, il y a d'abord un petit temps de formation. Puis un mois ou deux de travail en industrie comme simple ouvrier et après commence la vraie formation: chaque candidat passe un ou deux mois dans chaque département de l'entreprise (traitement du lait en bioréacteur, labo de test-qualité, labo « innovation »,...). A la fin de tout ça j'imagine qu'il y a une évaluation et qu'ils te casent dans le département où tu étais le plus efficace. Ce serait vraiment génial que je sois pris mais ils clôturent les inscriptions seulement le 1er juin puis les entretiens commencent..d'où c'est pas pour tout de suite.
Du coup comme j'en avais marre d'attendre à Auckland, j'ai décidé d'aller faire deux semaines de cueillette de kiwi à Mount Manganui. Je serai logé dans une auberge de jeunesse le long de la plage...plutôt sympa quoi, je pense que si les vagues sont grosses je m'acheterai un bodyboard pour en profiter un max.
J'ai fait connaissance avec l'automne (et bientôt l'hiver) néo-zélandais. Le principe est qu'il fait pas du tout froid (jamais en dessous de 10 degré dans l'île du nord) mais il pleut tous les jours. Pas toute la journée bien sur mais simplement quelques grosses averses par jour....rien avoir avec l'hiver belge donc.
Sinon, pour me rendre là bas j'ai décidé d'acheter une voiture. A la base je ne voulais pas « m'encombrer » d'une voiture mais j'ai changé d'avis au vu des prix actuels du marché. En fait en Nouvelle-Zélande, la plupart des voyageurs évitent l'hiver d'où beaucoup partent de NZ pour le moment et essaient de vendre leur voiture. Mais il n'y a pas beaucoup de gens qui arrivent à ce moment ci donc pas beaucoup d'acheteurs potentiels...d'où les prix sont ridicules.
J'ai acheté une vieille Honda de 1988 qui roule parfaitement (pour le moment). Elle est passée au contrôle technique il y a un mois et tout était ok.
Je l'ai payée 400 NZ$ donc 168 euro. En fait le type à qui elle appartenait devait la vendre en 2 jours car il rentrait en Europe d'où il avait pas le temps de chercher le meilleur acheteur...j'ai sauté sur l'occasion évidemment.
L'avantage c'est que je l'ai payée tellement peu cher qu'au pire si j'ai un ennui mécanique trop cher à réparer, je la largue, je m'en fous!
Donc voilà, je suis motorisé maintenant. J'espère juste que j'aurai pas d'accident car les assurances (même pour les dommages à autrui) sont pas obligatoires ici d'où j'en ai pas pris!
